Edge Detailing Masterclass
Details matter. Faust offers edging options that can create colour and material contrast or coherence, thereby altering the effect and functionality of your table. To simplify decision-making, we have created this masterclass to guide customers through the process of choosing their table top details.
On the edge
The most consequential detailing decisions relate to the choice of edging material our customers select. Our range of materials give the option of creating cohesion; a table top with matching surface and edges, or contrast; mixing materials for a complementary effect.
Wooden edging
Faust offers six solid wood edge options with a matte oiled finish. If customers choose a solid wood edge for their table top, the core material will be laminboard: An engineered sheet material made from thin layers of wood. Laminboard offers excellent stability while remaining lightweight, meaning this table top is ideal for large surfaces such as conference tables.

Maintenance

Linoleum edging
Many of our customers choose linoleum table tops. Applying a matching linoleum edge can create an elegant block monochrome effect. Alternatively, using a contrasting shade lends to a particularly graphic look and allows for playful and creative use of colour.

Birch Plywood
Faust offers birch plywood as a core material. Amongst plywood’s many benefits are its excellent structural stability and that it can be left exposed as an edging detail.
Available in three thicknesses and with an optional 25 degree edge profile for a thinner appearance without sacrificing stability.

Details
All our table tops are stable; however, for larger surfaces, overall stability also depends on the type of table base. Our team will contact you if we have any suggestions to improve your configuration or questions about your project. Orders only enter production once we are confident in the feasibility and functionality of your design
Maintenance
The edge is finished with a matte oil containing a slight white pigment to prevent yellowing over time
MDF
Faust offers coloured MDF as a core material. This is a highly versatile option when a slender and refined table top is required. Available in grey or black, the coloured edges are left exposed and simply oiled to enhance both durability and aesthetics. The table tops come with a standard thickness and an optional 25 degree edge for a thinner appearance without sacrificing stability.

Radii
The depth, angle and shape of an edge can add further character to a table. For example, a rounded radius adds visual softness while a chamfered edge can create dynamic impact. At Faust, we are able to produce table tops with a breadth of different radii as well as different finishes. Our customers can play on the configurator and consider how a radii might alter the look and feel of their table.
Different radii are available for each edging type. Our configurator displays only the options that are possible. All are detailed above.
Corner radius: 0.3 cm, 1 cm, 2.5 cm, 5 cm (top to bottom)
