How can I configure a workbench?
We recommend contacting our customer service for assistance. The DIN system is ideal for that purpose.

Can Faust produce special designs?
Faust can offer a number of solutions, beyond those available on our configurator, for special projects. This may be a special shape or colour. Please contact our customer care team with your request: info [ at ] faustlinoleum [ dot ] de

For a special tabletop shape please send a DXF and PDF 1:1 outline drawing with your message.

How stable is my table?
All Faust table tops are stable. This is because we carefully select the right core material for each design. You can contact our customer care for more information.

What is the difference between plywood as a core material and as a table edge?
Plywood serves as a sturdy core material for tabletops, offering stability and solidity. It is available in sheets of thickness; 20mm, 26mm, and 29mm. When employed only as a table edge, for example on a table with a laminboard core, plywood achieves a polished, seamless look, featuring a 90° profile edge.

Should I opt for linoleum on both sides of a table top?
In general, it is not necessary to coat both sides of the tabletop with linoleum. In some cases, however, it is still done willingly: On a height adjustable table the bottom of the table can be visible, therefore adding matching linoleum improves the table’s overall appearance.
For design flexibility and variation: If you intend to refresh the appearance of the table or create a different colour scheme in a room, a tabletop with two different linoleum surfaces offers variety. Should this use be desired, it is important to note that only tabletop that does not require permanent attachment to a frame or legs can be considered.

Can I use linoleum as a countertop in my kitchen?
Yes, however, we advise against it. While linoleum is a durable surface that withstands the rigours of daily life, like many other natural materials, it is susceptible to damage from intense heat, moisture, or acid and needs to be protected accordingly. For more information on the properties of linoleum, you can find them here.

Materials, colours, finishes

Can I receive a material sample set?
We offer a free sample set to help our customers in their material selection. It contains 26 shades of linoleum, oak and ash wood veneers, cork, and two tabletop core materials. We advise our customers to see colours in real life and in natural daylight before making a decision.

Sample sets are shipped within 1-2 days. Order your free set here.

Where does Faust source its materials?
Faust works with carefully selected suppliers who share our commitment to responsible manufacturing and help us deliver consistently high quality products at accessible prices. We work with locally-based suppliers where possible. All our material partners are located within the EU.

We aim to be as transparent as possible about where we source our raw materials, how we make our products, and the ethical and environmental impacts of our manufacturing and distribution processes. Read more in our Material section.

Do you produce linoleum at Faust?
Our linoleum is produced by Swiss company Forbo Flooring Systems, a long-standing partner with whom we share a commitment to realising the full potential and beauty of linoleum.

What is linoleum made of?
Linoleum has been manufactured for over 150 years. It is composed of renewable raw materials; linseed oil, resin, wood, limestone flour and natural colour pigments. Read more about linoleum here.

Is it possible to have white linoleum?
Linoleum is a natural material made from linseed oil, cork and wood flour. Each of these ingredients has a naturally warm colour. Even when adding white pigment, it is not possible to override the natural tones of the original materials to achieve a brilliant white. Therefore it is not available. Colours 4176 Mushroom and 4177 Vapour are often used as alternatives to brilliant white.

The linoleum surface is not as I expected and contains some inclusions.
Linoleum is made from natural raw materials (linseed oil, cork and wood flour). Therefore, minor inclusions or subtle colour changes cannot be completely avoided in the final product. Faust removes any large contaminations that might be considered faults at the point of production. But minor inclusions are a recurring and natural feature of linoleum and therefore unavoidable. If your linoleum furniture features some small inclusions we encourage our customers to recognise these as a natural feature, like the grain of a wood, rather than fault.

My new linoleum furniture has an unfamiliar aroma, what is it?
Due to the materials used in the production of linoleum, linseed oil specifically, the material has a delicate aroma that is often first detected when unpacking your product. However, this aroma will quickly disappear after just a few weeks.

My linoleum has a yellow hue, why?
During the maturing process, a yellowish colour develops on the surface of the linoleum (known as ‘drying room yellow’). It is especially visible on lighter shades. This is an entirely normal and natural phenomenon of linoleum and the yellow hue disappears quickly after the product is exposed to direct natural light. This yellowing may occur again if the surface is covered with monitors, mouse pads, and similar items but can again be quickly reversed by exposing the area to direct sunlight. ‘Drying room yellow’ cannot be removed by cleaning, only exposure to direct sunlight will remedy the issue.

Do Faust surfaces change over time?
Our linoleum, wood veneer and cork, like all natural materials, can age and alter over time developing a rich patina and unique character.

Over time, certain lighter linoleum colours may darken also. This is especially evident in the Pure Linoleum shade, which contains no colour pigment. The wood flour contained in the linoleum darkens like any solid wood. It is an excellent choice for those who admire the beauty of naturally-aged materials.

Does linoleum have a finish?
Yes. Forbo Furniture Linoleum comes with a pre-applied water-based protective layer. This helps improve durability and provides resistance to scratches and stains. It contributes to the overall aesthetic appeal of the linoleum, offering a smooth and finished surface.
